Trust Equality Objectives

Trust Equality Objectives

Equality of opportunity is fundamental to creating schools where learners and staff thrive and the Trust is committed to embed this into all that we do. The Trust will build a culture that values respect, tolerance and individual differences.

The Trust is fully committed to ensuring that it upholds the spirit as well as the legal requirements placed on us to ensure there is no discrimination in our organisation.   The Trust is a welcoming, meritocratic community that provides opportunities for all staff and students to thrive and feel valued.  This commitment requires everyone to be constantly vigilant and aware of best practice, so we all, learners and staff, are supported to fulfil our potential.

To this end the Trust will:

  • Ensure all staff are regularly trained to understand equality and diversity
  • Ensure all initiatives and policies are underpinned by a desire for equality and diversity
  • Record and report to the Executive, LGC’s and the Trust Board the frequency and nature of incidents or concerns related to protected characteristics, so that policy and practice can work towards addressing and eliminating any such incidents. Regularly update and monitor the Trust Equality Policy
  • Promote a range of activities through the curriculum to promote our desire for a respectful and tolerant community that welcomes diversity
  • Promote British Values
  • Educate young people in relation to the dangers of child-on-child abuse and sexual exploitation
  • Record and report to the Executive, LGC’s and Trust Board the frequency and nature of incidents or concerns related to child-on-child abuse.

The Trust will not discriminate because of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race (which includes colour, nationality and ethnic or national origins), religion, belief or non-belief, sex or sexual orientation. Please visit here to read our Equality Policy.

The Trust is aware of the dangers of the growing sexualisation of young people and is committed to through the PSHE curriculum to empowering all learners to keep themselves safe from abuse.  This will include education about online security and possible exploitation through social media.  The Trust takes child on child abuse seriously so as to create a safe learning environment for all learners.
